http://scriptingnews. userland. com/2003/10/08#When:4: (Oct 08 2003 11:58 GMT) - If you're in the Boston area and were at BloggerCon, you are especially welcome at tomorrow night's weblog writer's meeting. I want to hear what everyone thought of the conference. How should Thursday nights change now that the con is behind us? Maybe we should webcast the Thurs meetings so that when we have guests they have an idea of how they work? |

Describing and evaluating API usability at Microsoft (Oct 08 2003 11:58 GMT) - BradA (wouldn't it be cool to just write “Brabrams“?:) posts about Describing and evaluating API usability at Microsoft . It's a power point presentation that describes just what you should be thinking about when designing a programing API. I'm still a little unclear about some of the terms in there, but overall it's an enlightening experience. |

How to start blogging? (Oct 08 2003 11:57 GMT) - I'm constantly finding myself in trouble when people ask what they should do to start blogging. I don't have any good step-by-step approach and I don't know any good text on it that would satisfy me. May be you know something... The prerequisites are: Think of someone thinking about starting professional or semi-professional weblog (=not a personal diary) in public interested in using weblog for networking, so RSS is a must non tech person (so no complicated install and preferably as less usability troubles as possible) not sure if blogging will work for him/her (so paying for the blogging is questionable) not an early adopter (so will likely to stop facing problems) My questions What weblog software would you recommend? |

At every conference it seems, ... (Oct 08 2003 11:57 GMT) - At every conference it seems, someone gets mad at me. My style of public talking has its pluses, the discussion can be lively, but also some people's buttons get pushed. Most people go through this without making a scene. At this conference no one went ballistic, I'm thankful for that. But the Web being what it is, it still could happen. |

Massive Memory Leak? (Oct 08 2003 11:57 GMT) - Running With OL2003, and NewsGator 1.3, I am seeing that over the period of a week, NewsGator leeks a lot of VM (According to taskmanger). For example, OL has been open for 3 days now and has taken 190mb of VM. If I leave it for week or two weeks, I will return to find it with 1gb or so and my machine being very upset. I have mitigated this by making NG only check feeds once per 4hrs. |

Notes from the SCO Road show [John M Howitt] (Oct 08 2003 11:55 GMT) - This was posted on but the poster asked for it to be mirrored so i have just dropped the whole lot in to save his band-width.But you can go here to see the original. I decided to go to the SCO "City to City Tour" (%s/City to City/Farewell/g) out of morbid curiosity - what did SCO say about itself? I was especially interested to see if the time allotted to "roadmap" would even mention shippable product (o; It was interesting - not exactly as I expected, but interesting nonetheless. |
