- Robert, Acorn were a British computer manufacturer based in Cambridge England, and their machines are some what rare outside of the UK, as I have had a few myself and sent quite a few to Europe. As far as I know a few were sold in Canada and Australia/New Zealand. have a look at the above link which is the British vintage computer section of ebay, theres a complete section for Acorns. If you never used this computer you are in for a treat, the ROM based RISC OS operating system, is fully multitasking, and is extremely fast and stable, it boots in 10 seconds too. This line of computers used the ARM RISC processor which after Acorn shutdown formed a seperate company, ARM and put their CPUs in PDAs and a few consoles like the Gameboy Advance. |
