No Napster 2.0 for the iPod (Oct 10 2003 07:59 GMT) - Wired News reports that the iPod, which just happens to be the world's most popular MP3 player, won't play music files downloaded from the new Napster 2.0 music service. Why? Because the new Napster uses only Windows Media Audio files, not MP3s, and the iPod doesn't support that format. The workaround is to burn tracks downloaded from Napster 2. |

A really, really bad idea (Oct 10 2003 07:57 GMT) - Compromisiming on standalone readability by *people* is, unfortunately one of the classic premature optimisations in the XML world. The essence of XML is the yin/yang between people and machines. Tilt too far in either direction and the noosphere weeps. The rss-data proposal tilts too far away from people in favour of machines. There is no point in teeing up a data structure for the agregations in terms of dates, strings and integers and calling it XML. |

"It is not driven by religion, but by a clear strategic goal," he says. "What all the suicide terrorist campaigns have in common over the last 20 years is that the groups that pursue them are seeking to compel liberal democracies to withdraw military forces from territory that the terrorists view as their homeland, from Lebanon to Sri... |

Obviously the question of doctor/patient privacy is on the block here, just like the lawyer/client relationship has been recently. The original NY Times story is now behind the paid arc... |
