Can't update root (Oct 10 2003 17:19 GMT) - I was following Jake Savin's instructions on How To Create A Blogroll....The first step says to update Radio.root. When I do that I get a message some 3-5 minutes later saying this, "Can't update the root because "Can't get the address of "fault" because the table doesn't have an object with that name.." I updated root about 3 weeks ago with no problem. |

REGIME CHANGE, THE SEQUEL (Oct 10 2003 17:18 GMT) - President plans to overthrow Castro. Sounds like a political guesture towards Cuban Americans (most of whom are located in Florida) more than an actual call to arms. But it is definitely curious that Bush would discuss another regime change in his administration while he is taking so much heat for the last one. We also have disagreement in the Bush family on this subject: "The president's brother, Florida Gov. |

Blogger News Item (Oct 10 2003 17:18 GMT) - NASA down in Alabama has successfully tested a small-scale aircraft that flies solely by means of propulsive power delivered by an invisible, ground-based laser. Yeah the thing was only 5 feet long but its a start. I remember reading a story about Nasa Lewis (Glenn) doing something similar with microwaves a few years ago. |

Hold me (Oct 10 2003 17:17 GMT) - I am eating what I think of as the power lunch for a sick person. That lunch is as follows:miso soupedamameDiet PepsiWhen I eat that combination, I never fail to feel better. Because miso soup is good for what ails ya, dammit! There are other comfort foods I crave in times of stress, but when I'm sick nothing really does it for me like miso soup. |

One Reason VoIP Providers Having Trouble Meeting State Regulation Deadlines (Oct 10 2003 17:15 GMT) - Following all the recent stories about states like Minnesota, Wisconsin and California smelling some extra money and deciding that VoIP providers like Vonage should be regulated like phone companies, here's one example of why the two sets of companies are a bit different. The state of Wisconsin apparently sent their request for information to Vonage's competitor 8x8, and addressed it to their "federal compliance officer". 8x8, a 45 person startup, had no idea what a federal compliance officer was, and therefore has been a bit slow in replying. |

Scannell needs money to keep fighting CAPPS II (Oct 10 2003 17:15 GMT) - Bill Scannell (the cypherpunk who has devoted his energies to outing Delta, Jet Blue, Cendant and the CAPPS II/TIA unpatriotism emanating from the Feds) needs help if he is to continue doing his good work. He's broke, basically -- spending all your time blowing whistles puts a big dent in your earning power. So he's soliciting donations. Running the anti-CAPPS II campaign costs a lot of time and money. The Boycott Delta and Don't Spy On US websites require a team of graphic artists and web designers. |
