Borders and the public library (Oct 10 2003 19:59 GMT) - Borders and the public library is a short piece out of Hawaii that asks: "Do booksellers regard the public library as competition, a pre-technological analog to pre-lawsuit Napster, or as a feeder network that develops a consumer appetite for purchased books?" They say Borders must take the latter view, since it facilitated fund raising for the library system. As the Hawaii State Library begins its 90th anniversary celebration this weekend, Borders Books Music Cafe and its budget sister Waldenbooks are making donations to the public library system. |

Hysterical librarians? Try reasonably cautious (Oct 10 2003 19:59 GMT) - Linda Campbell's Column at DFW.com say Attorney General John Ashcroft recent conjuring of hysterical librarians being led into frenzy by rabid ACLU leftists rings almost comical. "Except that it's absurd, misinformed and deceptive -- even vaguely sexist. Not to mention that it could be interpreted as an affront to first librarian Laura Bush." |

Happy Tenchi Day! (Oct 10 2003 19:56 GMT) - Today, October 10, is Tenchi Day, and on today of all days my GXP Soundtrack arrived today. How is this relevant to Simply American? As I said before, I paid too much for it because President Bush is weakening the dollar to try to buy votes in big manufacturing areas. I made this order within minutes of an order from Barnes and Noble (I avoid Amazon because of its dangerous abuse of patents). This order shipped from Tokyo, while the Barnes and Noble order shipped from New Jersey. |
