Napster Returns (Oct 10 2003 21:58 GMT) - Napster is in the process of being reincarnated by Roxio. It's going to apparently resurrect as a pay-to-use music service, and if you pre-register you're eligible for 5 free tracks. They've also got a funky animations they they're calling Napster Bits that chart the fall and rebirth of Napster, which are good fun to watch. Napster used to be at the forefront of the online-music phenomenon, and now it's aiming to become the I-Tunes for Windows users. |

RSS feed to include article contents (Oct 10 2003 21:58 GMT) - John Ludwig kindly asked me to include the article contents in my RSS feed. In the past I have resisted doing so because CityDesk made it hard for me to generate valid RSS (relative links are not allowed) and because I like looking at my logs to see which articles are getting read. Two things have changed: CityDesk 2. |

FBI agent helped hit (Oct 10 2003 21:58 GMT) - Why won't I take the promises of John Ashcroft about abuse of the government powers that he wants under the various Patriot Act revisions? ex-FBI agent charged with helping mob kill businessman. They're not all bad apples, in fact I'd say most of 'em are doing good, but until you can guarantee to me that every cop is a good cop, I'm afraid of anyone with more powers than any other citizen. |

Emeril vs. Cthulhu (Oct 10 2003 21:58 GMT) - I've been looking for a context in which to link to Columbine's rant about Sara Lee's "cooking" show. I couldn't really bring up much venom for the comments there, because the last time I saw cooking shows was probably the last time I flew _JetBlue_ (http://www.jetblue.com/) and tried to escape the evil which was _The Food Network_ (http: |

Voting irregularities (Oct 10 2003 21:58 GMT) - I don't have time to run the numbers today, but here's an interesting look at correlating candidates with counties using Diebold voting machines (via Ethel the Blog) in the recent California gubernatorial election. Anybody with a little more time wanna check the sources and the math? |

Video Riot 2 pictures (Oct 10 2003 21:55 GMT) - On Wednesday night, I hung out for a while at Video Riot 2, put on by Dimension7. It was quite cool, and I also ran into Marc Canter there. Marc has some pictures on his site that show what it was like, and he links to Ami Sun's gallery of pictures as well. Click on Ami's pictures to get larger versions—they actually show people and gear better than one could really see there in person because it was dark. |
