RMS at UCLA (Oct 10 2003 23:06 GMT) - I saw Richard Stallman preach... er... speak at UCLA today. The topic was copyright, and the general feeling amongst the people I went with was that you spend your time alternating between agreeing with him and wanting to hit him.... |

Free Stuff Friday: Bontăgo (Oct 10 2003 23:06 GMT) - It's great when games like this come out. The concept and execution are simple, yet the gameplay is strangely deep. That explains this weeks game pretty well. I found Bontăgo because of the . I'm having fun checking out all the cool games, but ... |

Synaptic: Point-n-Click Software Management (Oct 10 2003 23:02 GMT) - If you're used to running Windows, you can think of Synaptic as a sort of super-dooper, turbocharged, steroid-munching version of the "Add / Remove Software" control panel. SunnComm won't sue over Shift key (Oct 10 2003 23:01 GMT) - Nope, I didn't lie. Neither did CNet or Wired. SunnComm, who berated a university student who found a single key depression work around to an apparently not so complex copy protection scheme, has backed down. The protection scheme is one that the creators for some reason confusingly said 90% of people would never try to workaround(then why have it, huh?) and which it claimed three major labels would adopt very soon, was broken by a simply shift key, which I explained disables the copy protection. |

While time is the independent axis, ideas (mostly technology- and programming-related) form the dependent axis. Because it's a Java applet, it will take a little time to load first. Cool idea. |
