Insane in the Membrane (Oct 11 2003 04:58 GMT) - I just wondered why our local WB (who is showing the beginning episodes of Buffy and Angel back to back), weren't showing their usual shows. And I was upset because SNL hadn't come on. Then I realized that Chitlin's day off school made me think today was Saturday. I swear, it's a wonder I get my underwear on right some mornings. Oh wait, scratch that too. |

Pet hates about websites (Oct 11 2003 04:57 GMT) - One thing that really bugs me (although it's not a huge drama in the scheme of things) - product websites that don't include a "Pricing" link, but instead include "Buy" links everywhere. (I'm not the only person in my office... |

Exit Polls II (Oct 11 2003 04:55 GMT) - That depends on whether you consider a vote for Roscoe wasted or not. Besides, I still believe the impact on friends, family and readership are more valuable than any individual vote. Your words on SA could have had a bigger influence on the election outcome than your personal ballot. And that's also why freedom of political speech is a better measurement of democracy than the amount of referenda. |

US considers banning flame retardants (Oct 11 2003 04:54 GMT) - PBDE's fire-retardant properties are believed to have saved thousands of lives, but they are harmful to animals in laboratory tests. There's still no proof that they cause problems in humans. What is clear is that levels in humans are rapidly building up, doubling every two to five years. That gap between their potential harm and the lack of conclusive proof has created rifts between US state and federal officials and even within the ranks of the US Environmental Protection Agency (...) |
