MVC --> MCVD ( Model View Control Dispatch ) (Oct 12 2003 11:59 GMT) - The MVC pattern seems derived from standalone GUI-applications as we know them from windows etc. However, in serverside app's you often need to call the same control from fx. a servlet/JSP, a Web Service, a JMS listener, a Legacy System listener, FTP file upload watchers etc. Hence the division of the controls into controls and dispatchers. |

My New OS (Oct 12 2003 11:59 GMT) - I've been running MacOS 8.6 for more than a year now. Since many programs I like aren't available on MacOS Classic at all (like any reasonable web server), or aren't updated any more (like Mozilla), I finally decided to make the switch, and I switched to Debian Linux. I've never used Debian before and I've never used Linux on a Mac, so I'm not sure what to blame. At any rate, I found the installation rather painful. |

How Can I Be So Tired .... (Oct 12 2003 11:59 GMT) - and not sleep??? It is one minute to five in the morning, and I have yet to go to sleep. All I do is toss and turn while my mind goes a million miles an hour. This is so not fun. |

Electronic Jam (Oct 12 2003 11:53 GMT) - I'm sitting at a table full of laptops and midimans, with Brian on the mixer. Doc Searls has dubbed us the Behlendorftones. I'm not sure what to think about that really, but I'm having a damn fine time. Foo. If you're reading this _now_, there's a live stream at http: |

Cool Rendezvous appliances (Oct 12 2003 11:53 GMT) - Last night I listened to Stuart Cheshire talk about new rendezvous enabled appliances. There was a media drive (Via box) streaming to iTunes, a print server, and a cool serial adaptor (it would be much cooler if it was wireless and running SSH). As with all Rendezvous talks, apps were downloaded, and hilarity ensued. |
