More Judeo-Christian terrorism (Oct 12 2003 13:31 GMT) - I wonder what would happen if the head of a Muslim charity said this: If I could just get a nuclear device inside Foggy Bottom [State Dept. HQ], I think that's the answer. Of course, it wasn't the head of a Muslim charity, it was Pat Robertson, who runs a number of |

Blind 'see with sound' (Oct 12 2003 13:31 GMT) - "Michelle Thomas is learning to 'see', not with her eyes but her ears. Blind since birth, Ms Thomas is able to recognize the walls and doors of her house, discern whether the lights are on or off and even distinguish a CD from a floppy disk after only a week using a revolutionary new system. She is 'seeing with sound'." BBC A computer reconstruction of one second of sound as seen by the vOICe system: |

I did figure out the commute - there'... (Oct 12 2003 13:29 GMT) - I did figure out the commute - there's a shuttle that runs between the BART station and my work. Microsoft security vows doubted by analysts (Oct 12 2003 13:27 GMT) - OwlWhacker writes "Analysts were doubtful Friday that Microsoft would be able to uphold a pledge to prevent e-mail attacks and make software security a "No. 1 priority." "Security requires such fundamental changes that it's hard to make real progress quickly," said George Gilbert, former CSFB analyst and co-founder of the research firm Tech Strategy Group. Iraq (Oct 12 2003 13:25 GMT) - The Administration's focus this week will be Iraq & the War on Terror. Critics of the Administration's policy have been more vocal lately. Hopefully, this week's speeches will silence their foolishness or at least put them in a insular minority. It is sad that not only must we fight terrorists in foreign lands but also fight liberals in the homeland so we can prevent future terrorist attacks. I am amazed that these liberals would have us do nothing. |
