Nice local newspaper recap of story thus far from an obvious fan (Oct 12 2003 21:59 GMT) - Feature in the Orlando Sentinel focuses positively on WKC's complexity of character and reputation. Good piece to introduce Wes to others. ""FORT DODGE, Iowa -- Wesley Clark, retired four-star general and newest enlistee in the campaign for president, strides onto... |

Blogger News Item (Oct 12 2003 21:59 GMT) - Those would include blogging. Please remind me never to blog after ten or more drinks. No matter how much of it I have danced off. Luckily I have the power to delete it. I try to avoid using that power very often, but I think we're all better off without the retarded post that once sat here. |

Pudge Pop (Oct 12 2003 21:58 GMT) - I thought it was interesting to see how the outfield was playing Ivan Rodriguez in the first inning. He popped a ball foul down the left field line, and Alou had no chance to reach it. The Cubs are playing... |

The Crazies (Oct 12 2003 21:57 GMT) - Before I left for Los Angeles everyone had said that the train would be full of crazies. I thought I knew what they meant when I went out there. Oh how wrong I was. The trip back to Chicago was filled with so many more crazies. I could never have imagined. |

other projects looking at practical interop (Oct 12 2003 21:56 GMT) - From the CetisOrganization site (A recipe for interoperability in practice): The aim of this interoperability demonstration was to show that interoperability has moved beyond the realm of theory and is now a reality - with tools and systems in use within the UK academic community. Whilst in the past, demonstrations of 'Content Packaging' have used artificial content, it was decided that for this showcase, a proper learning resource would be used. In addition, tools would be used to adapt the content before re-use. |

Name that tune (Oct 12 2003 21:54 GMT) - Christen and I went to Pizzeria Uno's last night to use up some coupons before they expired. We got a chance to talk about the movie we'd just seen, Intolerable Cruelty -- which, by the way, was pretty good thanks largely to a very funny George Clooney -- and I had a weird vision problem. Anyway, they played a song that I knew -- it was like an early 90's rock-pop number -- and I didn't write down anything about it. I should have, because now I can't remember what it was so I can find it in the iTMS. Sigh. |

Windows Update? (Oct 12 2003 21:54 GMT) - Lemme tell ya, the most fun thing about having a Windows XP computer at home now is running Windows Update almost every freaking day. Not just for the fun of it, mind you -- but because there are actual remote exploits that can cause you harm if you don't have the OS patched. It's so bad that I just figured out how to run Windows Update on a schedule. (Apple could learn a few important lessons from Microsoft's wizards, I think -- I'd love to have a built-in interface for Mac OS X that would help you set up scheduled tasks. And before you mention it, bundling >Cronnix is not the user-friendly answer ... |
