Library injuries remain mystery (Oct 13 2003 06:59 GMT) - Bob Cox shares with us a Story Out Of California on The growing problem of library-worker injuries is a mystery worthy of Sherlock Holmes. And an expensive one, having cost taxpayers $360,000 in medical settlements. Last year, a record 17 employees at the 10-branch city-county system reported on-the-job injuries such as arm pain and loss of feeling in their hands. Though the repetitive nature of various aspects of the work is believed to be a primary cause of the injuries, library officials can’t explain the recent increase. "It’s really complex," said Richard Eberley, who is in charge of circulation. |

Keith Emerson and the Nice tickets: London Friday 17th October [Mike Southon] (Oct 13 2003 06:58 GMT) - Attention prog-rockers out there! Due to last minute work commitments, I've got two tickets going begging for Keith Emerson and the Nice this coming Friday 17th October at the Hammersmith Odeon - or the Labatts Carling Fosters Odeon or whatever it's called nowadays. These originally cost £58 including booking fee, but all sensible offers considered. Went to see the show at the Derngate Northampton last night and can highly recommend it. First hallf was Keith with original Nice members Lee Jackson and Brian Davidson and featured America, Country Pie , Cry for Eugene, Tantalising Maggie, Karelia Suite etc. |
