Skype (Oct 13 2003 08:07 GMT) - So. |

Blogger News Item (Oct 13 2003 08:04 GMT) - This ain't adding up, Rush Rush Limbaugh talkin about golf in July 2003: I've played the Bob Hope three times and the AT&T twice. It wasn't bad. It's just the game is mental. Once you've mastered the physical aspect, not mastered, but 90 percent of the game, all of the other things being equal is mental, and for some reason, I just was not able to execute my swing today. |

Ironic twist of opinion (Oct 13 2003 08:04 GMT) - I am not normally a fan of software companies, and I have a few articles you'll be seeing soon that will explain my many thoughts on why I see piracy as almost a need here in Canada, but I am told I unnecessarily flipped out on a coworker today who was trying to brag to me that she got a hold of a copy of Half Life 2, and that she was playing it. I simply tried to tell her that she quite likely has either a very much incomplete version, or a virus riddled one. She admitted it was not complete, but still felt this was an accomplishment. I really did resist the urge to tell her how little I thought of her, and if I hadn't got a call, following which I ignored the rest of those working tonight, I would have really opened up. I think it is absurd that the warez community has to stoop so low as to pass around an unfinished work, and promote this type of clear thievery. |

Dan Jackson checking out host offers, while the Convert Lit debate goes on (Oct 13 2003 08:03 GMT) - Dan Jackson, through whose Web site you can download a crack to defeat the user-hostile copy "protection" of the Microsoft Reader, did hear from a few of the people he hoped to. They offered new homes for the dangerous Convert Lit program beyond the reach of DMCAish laws. Let's hope that he and Convert Lit programmer "Winston Smith" already have a solution, but you never know--so e-mail Dan if you can help. Meanwhile, for benefit of Chief Software Architect Bill Gates and Microsoft business strategist Maggie Wilderotter, here are excerpts from some of my favorite Slashdot postings:Anonymous: |

Foo Camp (Oct 13 2003 08:02 GMT) - Chuq and others have written quite a lot about the O'Reilly "Foo Camp" held this weekend in Sebastopol. It sounds like a lot of fun. I wish I could've been there, but I didn't get an invite this time around. Nor, it seems, did many people my age, so I can't really complain. And it's not like I can talk about what I'm working on anyway, so I would've been leeching off of everyone else there without adding much of my own. |
