columbus day (Oct 14 2003 01:52 GMT) - One of the nice things about working for a bank is that you get all the US Federal holidays off. So I didn't have to go to work today. Pretty cool. Went for a walk, visited the new local Apple Store (not really a big deal, although I wish they had shirts for sale), saw a movie. Nice relaxed Monday off. |

As I feared, when I ... (Oct 14 2003 01:52 GMT) - As I feared, when I got home from the drumming circle tonight at about 9:20, I had to park several blocks away. Fortunately, the church a few blocks down gave us permission to use their lot, because there wasn't a single space left on the road -- as I came up the hill, someone was just taking the very last one before the No Parking sign at the curve. I went all the way down to the end and it was solid, so I came back and parked in the church lot. I sent K a text message telling him to leave the djembe in the car -- when everyone goes to work tomorrow morning there'll be plenty of room closer to the house, and we can bring the car up and carry the drum in from there. |

72 hours later, and she's back in jail (Oct 14 2003 01:51 GMT) - The county prison here must be pretty nice (it is fairly new). It must be so nice, that it causes criminals who were released from there to want to go back. Or something like that. To quote the story:Jodie Lynn Ackerman, 24, was being held for trial on unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and criminal trespass when she and two fellow inmates were released around 9: |

IT Investor's Journal: Dell, FedEx and UPS (Oct 14 2003 01:51 GMT) - Last week, I was hearing that Dell switched from using FedEx to UPS. Specifically, I was hearing that Dell didn't live up to its quota amounts under its contract with FedEx and that's what caused the company to switch to UPS. So, if this is true then it's possible that maybe Dell isn't really shipping as many PCs as they claim and that the inventory build at Dell is not being matched by sell-through. |
