We consume (Oct 15 2003 04:31 GMT) - What we have purchased in the past few days: A new tv- Hitachi 51f500 51" HDTV Monitor (to replace our current tv which has been flaking out) An Onkyo home theater in a box (if we're going to up-grade we might as well up-grade!) A Panasonic 5 disc DVD/CD player A stainless steel garbage can for the kitchen (no real justification for this, it's super cool, slowly our stainless kitchen empire grows :) As well as a kitchen food scale and a microplane grater and a couple of other toys for our personal enjoyment. We have been good little consumers fueling our economy. |

Smile, You're On Candid Court (Oct 15 2003 04:30 GMT) - While I'm running around with my camera phone here at Digital ID World (check the Carry-On over the next few days; so far, everyone's clothed), the Metropolitan News-Enterprise has this: "Presiding Judge Backtracks on New Camera Cell Phone Policy." |

Point Break (Oct 15 2003 04:29 GMT) - A good chunk of my day today was spent designing an investor presentation for a client using the supremely inaccurate Microsoft PowerPoint — first on Mac OS X and then on Windows XP — a process which is best likened to assembling a model airplane with oven mitts on. Reviews: Why Bush must go (Oct 15 2003 04:25 GMT) - I've been working through a few books lately, and a few of them fall into a single category, so I thought I would do a quick combined review, for anyone who might be considering reading one or more of them.... |

Black Point (Oct 15 2003 04:24 GMT) - I went with Charlie today to fish near Black Point Park in southern Miami. I rose at 4am (2 hours after I went to bed), and we grabbed some bait down there. Once we arrived at the park, we had a hell of a time finding the proper yak/canoe ramp. Turns out it's just a rocky "beach" in a mangrove forest. Right next to a "beware of crocodiles" sign. |

My Latest Thing... (Oct 15 2003 04:24 GMT) - I felt I haven't been doing enough fiction-style writing (besides my novel that I'm fleshing out) so I just started up Corp: An Original Series. I don't really know where it will go or for how long it'll last but... |
