The Guy Who Burned Adolf Hitler's Body is Dead (Oct 15 2003 10:24 GMT) - Otto GĂĽnsche, an aide to Adolf Hitler who burned the Nazi dictator's body in the final days of the Second World War to keep it from the advancing Soviets, has died, his family said Monday. He was 86. GĂĽnsche said in a recent AP interview that Hitler had personally ordered him to burn his body. When the day came, Hitler's chief-of-staff, Martin Bormann, attempted to set the corpses of Hitler and Braun alight in the garden of the Reich chancellery in Berlin. But it was GĂĽnsche who threw a burning rag that started the fire. |

Sex, drugs and good copy [Anne Caborn] (Oct 15 2003 10:24 GMT) - Information is a drug. The more we ingest the more our tolerance increases and the more information we seem to be able to cope with. Most businesses think of dealing with information overload – few consider reducing the amount of information they deal with. Considering most businesses are already being poisoned by surfeit of information, this is as helpful as handing a sex addict the key to a five star hotel room complete with porn movie channel and vibrating mattress. |

The Story Behind The Funny Sign (Oct 15 2003 10:24 GMT) - Once designated to be a jet fighter base, Richard Bong State Recreation Area is fittingly named after Maj. Richard I. Bong, a Poplar, Wisconsin, native who was America's leading air ace during World War II. The project was abandoned three days before concrete was to be poured for a 12,500-foot runway. Local citizens had the foresight to protect this open space for future generations. |

Another Weekend in Kansas City (Oct 15 2003 10:23 GMT) - Laura and I left town around 4:30pm on Friday. We hit some heavy traffic but managed to keep up our spirits by listening to tons of great music that Laura brought: Pink Floyd, Beatles, Norah Jones, etc. We got into town just in time to watch the Blues game with Ben and Lori. |

Big Ten Chokes In Regards To Reynolds (Oct 15 2003 10:22 GMT) - JS Online: "With the Robert Reynolds case, the Big Ten had a chance Monday to take a real stand against unacceptable behavior on the football field. Instead, the conference dropped the ball. By accepting Ohio State's weak one-game suspension of its linebacker for choking and jabbing at the throat of Wisconsin quarterback Jim Sorgi on Saturday night, the Big Ten all but swept the ugly incident under the FieldTurf. When Lee Evans called it "one of the lowest things I've ever seen in a football game," the UW receiver nailed it as cleanly as his 79-yard touchdown reception that beat the Buckeyes, 17-10. |

Sunday 12th October 2003 (Oct 15 2003 10:22 GMT) - Moral quandary of today - when you realise, too late that a shopkeeper has surreptitiously given you a foreign coin that resembles a UK coin in your change, should you then surreptitiously try and pay for something with that coin at another shop. Just to pass the problem on to someone else. Or should you accept that you have been duped and either throw the coin away, use it to give to a busker or tramp and let them deal with the problem or arrange a foreign holiday to the country that the coin originates from so you are able to spend the money legally? |
