(Oct 17 2003 00:03 GMT) - If it is really the case that no senior Justice Department official has recommended that Ashcroft recuse himself from the Plame investigation, then Ashcroft is being very badly served by his aides: Ashcroft is simply too close to too many of the principals for a failure of the investigation to be interpreted as anything other than Ashcroft taking a dive.
