From Tom McQueeney, DJUG's new president (congrats Tom!): For those that missed last week's meeting, David introduced us to the new JavaServer Faces specification, now in its 4th "early access" release on the Sun web site. David considers JSF to be a "Struts killer" once the standard takes hold within the development community and tool vendors. |

Bioethics Council Tells Us All To Die Young (Again) (Oct 17 2003 04:36 GMT) - The President's Council on Bioethics has issued Beyond Therapy: Biotechnology and the Pursuit of Happiness. The chapter on healthy life extension ("ageless bodies") gives a good primer on current technologies, research and potentials, and how therapies can be used in the near future to extend healthy lifespans. It then heads off into la-la land to tell us that we should not develop these therapies; in other words Kass and the Bioethics Council are still telling us that we should all suffer and die young. |
