Network Effect Contests (Oct 17 2003 15:40 GMT) - The "klaws" at Venture blog writes: ...John Maynard Keynes called a "beauty contest". He named it after beauty contests that ran in newspapers of his day. A selection of women appeared in the paper, and the idea was to pick the prettiest one (nobody ever said Keynes was politically correct). |

More reasons I love my phone (Oct 17 2003 15:39 GMT) - My phone is just getting better and better. I have the Nokia 3650, with service through T-Mobile, and recommend it highly. On a recent business trip, I used the phone's built-in mail client to read my personal and work e-mails (no spam filter, however). My car is in the shop right now, so I'm entertaining myself on the train with the web browser. Here's an example of how well that can work on the small screen: |

Is it possible to share Safari's bookmarks with Firebird (Oct 17 2003 15:39 GMT) - Now that I have the pinstripe theme for Mozilla Firebird installed, I think I'll start using Firebird a fair amount. However, all my bookmarks have fallen into Safari's black hole. Is it possible to share Safari bookmarks with Firebird? It'd be sweet if these browser vendors would get together and allow all their browsers to read from the same bookmarks file. |
