Apple is just as bad as the RIAA? (Oct 17 2003 17:48 GMT) - Some people in life are never happy. Apple is trying to work out a way to make the Internet and music work for all sides: fans, musicians, labels, tech companies, etc. I believe they've done a good job. They do have a ways to go to make it better, but with the announcement of Windows support yesterday and features like audio books, allowance accounts, etc. |

Internet speed record broke (Oct 17 2003 17:48 GMT) - CERN, whose laboratories straddle the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, said it had sent 1.1 Terabytes of data at 5.44 gigabits a second (Gbps) to a lab at the California Institute of Technology, or Caltech, on October 1. Thats the equivalent to transferring a full-length DVD film in seven seconds or also equivalent to transferring a 60-minute compact disc within one second. |

Bray and a few associates conclude that anonymity and ultra-low cost are the fertilizer of spam, and lay out a famework in which spam could not survive as a viable marketing tool. I respect the Bray's experience and insights into the web, but I choked on the penny-per-email pricing point. A penny per email? That's gouging. |
