We've got three corners of the US covered in Orlando... (Oct 17 2003 18:46 GMT) - Matt and I spent our two year anniversary in Universal Studios, Orlando Florida. I knew Jonvon was down somewhere around there, so I asked Joe Litton for his contact info. Well, Joe's son is in Tampa for college, and him and his wife decided it was time for a visit. Then Jonvon invited Julian Robichaux, who was up to the challenge, and finally Bruce Elgort and Gayle hopped on the vacation bandwagon also. What a great time! |

Non Techical Solutions (Oct 17 2003 18:44 GMT) - Brian Sullivan offers some non technical ways MS can improve security. What should be noted though is that most of the time, these attacks that take over everyone's computer are based on known security flaws that have had patches available for months. What Microsoft really needs to do is some type of consumer awareness project. How about some radio / tv / web ads about what the hell Windows Update is and how Microsoft provides this service to help you secure your computer against the viral hordes. Then, users might realize 1) That windows update exists and 2) that they should use it. |

Vietnam jails four in Central Highlands (Oct 17 2003 18:43 GMT) - A court in Vietnam's Central Highlands has reportedly sentenced four members of an ethnic minority to between 10 and 13 years' jail for inciting unrest and undermining the country's unity. Vietnamese state media reports the People's Court in Dalak province handed down the sentences on Thursday. The report says the four were found guilty of inciting a group of people from ethnic minority communities in the Central Highlands to get involved in unrest, and were attempting to set up an independent state. The AFP news agency says the convictions are the latest in a string of crackdowns after protests in February 2001 over land and religious rights. |
