Vietnamese state media reports the People's Court in Dalak province handed down the sentences on Thursday. The report says the four were found guilty of inciting a group of people from ethnic minority communities in the Central Highlands to get involved in unrest, and were attempting to set up an independent state. The AFP news agency says the convictions are the latest in a string of crackdowns after protests in February 2001 over land and religious rights. |
