iTMS 2 (Oct 17 2003 20:54 GMT) - Bill Bumgarner notes that you can now drag tracks out of the store to get URLs to them. I’d still like the store to support higher bitrate downloads, more selection, and user reviews and lists. There are so many partial albums, and albums that just plain aren’t there. |

iTMS for Windows and piracy (Oct 17 2003 20:51 GMT) - An article on NewScientist.com raises the question of piracy in relation to the launch of the iTunes Music Store for Windows. Joshua Duhl, an analyst with IDC says "One of the challenges iTunes face is that it's sort of a 'light' copy protection. Somebody's going to try to hack it." Apple has already faced piracy issues with iTunes on the Mac platform. |

Microsoft blasts iTunes for Windows (Oct 17 2003 20:51 GMT) - In a PressPass interview, David Fester, the General Manager of Microsoft's Digital Media Division dismisses Apple's entry into the Windows music service market as closed and limited. "iTunes captured some early media interest with their store on the Mac, but I think the Windows platform will be a significant challenge for them," he said, adding that iTMS and "closed" AAC format would limit Windows users to using iTunes and the iPod, locking them out of more than 40... |

New breed of Paypal scam (Oct 17 2003 20:51 GMT) - A new Paypal scam is making rounds on the Internet. An email, which claims to come from service@paypal.com, tells Paypal users that their accounts have been randomly flagged as part of a "security measure." The user is then invited to verify their Paypal account and credit card information at a site which appears to be a legitimate Paypal page, but is in fact a clever forgery. Paypal has been made aware of the scam, and the site has been removed, but it is likely other similar... |

The iTunes Music Store doesn't," the Senior Vice President said, noting that though the music service is close to being profitable, the primary goal of the iTunes Music Store is to drive iPod sales. "While the profitability of the iTunes store right now is questionable, the popularity of the iPod is not," confirmed a market analyst with Technology... |

Some users, such as Spymac Forum member coolkid is ecstatic; "I can't believe how great this turned out. It's runs just like the Mac version, really fast and not buggy at all like I kinda expected for the first version." Other Spymac forum members are less enthused. |

Unfriendly Skies (Oct 17 2003 20:49 GMT) - After reading this news story about bags containing box cutters, bleach, and modeling clay being found on two Southwest Airlines commercial planes, I have the same concerns and questions that many other everyday folks have, the foremost being: how the heck did these bags get placed aboard the planes? US carriers are searching their planes and thus far no additional suspicious items have turned up. The thought does occur that whoever put these items on the two Southwest planes could have been doing us all a huge favor, if indeed they attempted to just show up weaknesses in airline security and not to do harm. |
