Pope Asks Cardinals to Pray for Him (Oct 18 2003 07:59 GMT) - Again brushing aside any suggestion he might retire, Pope John Paul II asked cardinals on Saturday to pray for him so he could fulfill his mission "as long as the Lord wishes." A visibly moved John Paul made the comments at the end of a symposium of cardinals who had gathered in Rome to celebrate his 25th anniversary as pope. |

Something for the weekend [ gulliver] (Oct 18 2003 07:54 GMT) - I'd originally and more aptly headed this post 'point of confusion'...then decided on something 'alittle sniggery' and light-hearted. Picking-up on the 'it's the weekend - so we're a little more relaxed' thing, it's probably a more apt header than I initially realised. Whatever. With this post I'm trying to make a worthwhile point - one which I hope will be less likely to get lost than it might were I to post it in the week. |
