Helpline Comment (24115) (Oct 19 2003 19:59 GMT) - iam glad that packard-hell is gone. for some reason , they really didn't follow industry standards. and it made it hard for the service people & owners when things would not work. they sold them heavily in stores that offered no support. companies like that will generally die, but only after creating problems for people that last until they all are ground up "real fine" case in point finding an almost new pb p200 in the dump. |

In effect, the user is a hostage to the developer. An article several years ago proposed using open source development to break the power of suppliers. While an interesting proposal, creating relevant standards are probably enough to tilt the balance of power back to the user. |
