Trying to Bypass the Good-News Filter - New York Times (Oct 20 2003 02:58 GMT) - "President Bush set off a round of mad buzzing in Washington last week when he took a pop at the national news media. "There's a sense that people in America aren't getting the truth," Mr. Bush said to a reporter for Hearst-Argyle Television, one of five back-to-back White House interviews he granted to regional broadcasters. "I'm mindful of the filter through which some news travels, and sometimes you have to go over the heads of the filter and speak directly to the people."" |

Marlins 1, Yankees 6 (Oct 20 2003 02:57 GMT) - So the saying goes, good pitching beats good hitting. Andy Pettite got a chance at a shutout, but an error and a hit scored the Marlins' first run with 2 out in the 9th inning. At that time Torre pulled Pettite, so the line for Pettite reads 8 2/3 innings pitched with one run. Meanwhile, Mark Redman could not hold down the Yankees the way he did the Cubs, especially not Hideki Matsui of the three-run home run. The Yankees will have to do more than in at home, though, if they wish to take home their 26th World Series crown. |

SeaWiki (Oct 20 2003 02:51 GMT) - Turns out Julian Bond (of Ecademy) has been working on his own extension/usage of Drupal for FOAF and single sign-on authentication. Though Drupal is a lot less "secure" than some other systems (like PingID's SourceID implementation of the Liberty Alliance) it's ALLOT easier to implement and support. Here's Danny Ayers cryptic quicky post on this...... Simple Single Sign On. |
