Is this worth going to? [Jeremy Freeman] (Oct 20 2003 16:59 GMT) - I received an email through one of my clubs - I just wondered if anyone was going and whether it is worth going or not? Details below. I doubt I'll go as it's my 30th birthday! There is still chance to book a place on this one day event that is being hosted by The Better Business Institute. For Ecademy members I have arranged a £30 discount so you only pay £49 for the day instead of the full £79 price. |

Britney Hops on the Kabbalistic Bandwagon (Oct 20 2003 16:59 GMT) - The Daily News chimes in on Philip Berg's kabbalah craze. Apparently Britney Spears is now wearing one of "Rachel's red strings" around her wrist. Yeah, you know, the same Britney Spears who was on the cover of the NY Post yesterday for giving strip teases around the city? Seriously, WTF? More from MSNBC. |

Blunkett's skewed priorities (Oct 20 2003 16:58 GMT) - Every time I see reference to David Blunkett he seems to be more distasteful. The latest is his reaction to a BBC report on racism amongst police recruits. As the Guardian reports, Blunkett "challenged the methods of the programme more sharply than its message." The message being that a small number of police recruits are openly racist (donning KKK-style hoods, and talking about attacking recruits from racial minorities) and that other recruits showed indifference in the face of these actions. The reporters' methods, by the way, may have fallen foul of the law but do not appear unethical, given the issue being investigated - a reporter applied for a position as a recruit, and filmed proceedings in the college. |

Just like me, they long to be... (Oct 20 2003 16:57 GMT) - My next door neighbor at work and I both listen to the same radio station at work [when I have the radio on -- most times I'm listening to CDs]. I've worked here for just over three years now. For the first year every time The Carpenters come on the radio, I always said something stupid about Karen Carpenter needing to eat a couple of cookies. And my co-worker always half kiddingly busted out with "You leave Karen alone! She's a national treasure! |

What on earth? (Oct 20 2003 16:56 GMT) - The Mavs picked up Antoine Walker from the Celtics, trading away Raef Lafrentz among others. So the Mavs get even smaller, and now have Antoine, Antawn, and Mike Finley to play the 2 and 3 positions? Where are the minutes gonna go? Especially since you had to figure they were planning on using Dirk a little at 3 to get Danny Fortson in the game for his rebounding. The good news for the Mavs, if there is any, is that Antoine Walker has a much better post-up game than outside game. |
