- JeffL : Best option for a monitor would be to do an advanced search on eBay & try to find a monitor listed locally & ask seller if it is OK to collect it (I'm sure many sellers would be glad to avoid packaging up cheap monitors) Also try asking sellers if they have any more, you might get some cosmetically poor but working monitors cheap As TFT screens are taking over, the market is getting flooded with ex-company CRT monitors - office space savings must be huge for call-centres etc. who have rooms with hundreds of monitors, also power & heat issues On top of that, electro-magnetic radiation scare stories from CRTs mean there's a corporate liabilty issue as well (do TFTs give off less/no EM radiation ?) I seem to be accumulating 15" SVGAs - about 4 at the last count - still useful, I'd like to try a multi-screen setup, win98 can handle up to 9 & quad-head VGA cards are appearing at reasonable prices on eBay Heat output is not a problem - it's freezing this morning here |
