After filling in a form asking phone #, address, etc, the result was a paper about 1 1/4 pages long. Just not worth the effort. |

Japan Man Stages Fake Royal Wedding (Oct 21 2003 20:26 GMT) - TOKYO - A Japanese man has been arrested for fraud after claiming royal lineage to stage an extravagant "imperial wedding", bilking guests of 12.7 million yen (US$115,000) in gift money, officials said Tuesday. Yasuyuki Kitano, 41, who claimed to be Prince Arisugawa for more than a decade, carried out the scam in April with the help of a 45-year-old woman pretending to be his bride and a 42-year-old company executive. All three were arrested on Monday, a Tokyo Metropolitan police spokesman said on condition of anonymity. But that was only after the trio mounted a spectacle involving more than 350 guests at an exclusive Tokyo club along with convincing knockoffs of traditional imperial wedding robes. |

Man Survives Plunge Over Canada's Niagara Falls (Oct 21 2003 20:26 GMT) - TORONTO (Reuters) - A "smiling" man survived a 50-meter (150-foot) plunge over the fast-flowing Niagara Falls, and police said on Tuesday that the unusual case was still under investigation. The man, who has not been identified, is believed to be the first person to survive a drop over the falls without any life jacket or flotation device. Dare devils have braved the drop in barrels and boats -- a now-illegal practice that leads to heavy fines. "The man went over on the Canadian side, right at the brink of Horseshoe Falls," said Inspector Paul Forcier, of Niagara Parks police. He said the man's name might be released later on Tuesday. |

Man Cuts Off His Genitals to Win Sympathy (Oct 21 2003 20:26 GMT) - DAR ES SALAAM (Reuters) - A Tanzanian man cut off his genitals in an attempt to win sympathy from creditors after squandering their money on prostitutes and alcohol, a newspaper reported on Saturday. The 24-year-old reached the decision after realizing he could not pay back millions of shillings lent to him by friends and relatives to invest in a business venture. The Guardian newspaper said the man's condition was improving after he received treatment at his local hospital in the east African country's northern Manyara region. The report said it was the second such incident in the area in two months. Another man slashed off his genitals upon failing to settle a 300,000 shilling ($287) debt. |

Will that be cash or Timex? (Oct 21 2003 20:26 GMT) - My dad hated ATM cards when they came out. He claimed that they made it too easy to get more money for making impulse purchases. As a lover of the dizzying high and crashing low of impulse purchasing, I remember arguing my 14 year old heart out in favour of the idea. Right or wrong, ATM cards came to stay for now and you can even buy a coffee with one. Enter Speedpass-type technology, where you set up an account linked to your credit card, and your account is uniquely identified by an RFID tag. |

Unfortunately, her career makes it hard for her to have much of a social life. She's interested in finding a partner(s) for a casual fling, but doesn't know where to start, because she's never done it before. |
