long awaited burst (Oct 21 2003 23:19 GMT) - Just had a burst of creativity and I think I've hit upon a design for the site Dad's been after me to build for him. My big stumbling block was that I have little faith in my design skills and... |

Helpline Comment (24151) (Oct 21 2003 23:19 GMT) - Hmm, the sfd1001 drive does bring back memories. I had one hooked into my C64 some time ago. I am interested to know if anyone has any experiance with the Contiki C64 Web Browser. It seems that for about $70.00 US and a home built interface card, consisting of a single 74XX chip, one can have an ethernet card for the C64. |

Love and Diane (Oct 21 2003 23:18 GMT) - Award Reviews 2003: Jennifer Dworkin's epic 2½ hour docu explodes the right wing cliche of the "welfare queen" -- the black woman with a lot of kids and a crack habit -- not by avoiding the stereotype but by fleshing it out. Settling the viewer in to an unmediated intimacy with her subjects, Dworkin follows the fortunes of Diane and her daughter Love. |

Bush and co taking over the medical profession (Oct 21 2003 23:17 GMT) - Senate passes legislation to ban partial birth abortion which contrary to what is apparently popular belief, is not a clear cut thing and definitions and facts seem to vary rather greatly. Bush is expected to sign the bill. In other news, another Bush is making medical decisions - this time to keep a comatose woman alive - reversing an earlier court ruling that she be allowed to die. |

In the OR, Nobody Can Hear You Scream... (Oct 21 2003 23:17 GMT) - Study: 100 patients a day in USA wake up during surgery: "Anesthesia failure that allows a patient to wake up during surgery, paralyzed and unable to cry for help, occurs 100 times a day in the USA, a study reports Monday. An insight into what market research believes drives broadband (Oct 21 2003 23:15 GMT) - An old colleague of mine, Ian Fogg, commented in an earlier posting that he didn't think 'cheap broadband' at 150kbps would 'really offer the full broadband experience that customers expect'. The reasons he gave were interesting, and reveal I think a kind of 'supplier led' thinking that may distort the way broadband providers view their customers and their motivations. |

Helpline Comment (24150) (Oct 21 2003 23:14 GMT) - regarding broken monitors IMHO, one of the most common faults, is people get brutal with the video cable and break or bend one the pins in the HD15 connector. My cousin gave me this 15" Sony Trinitron monitor, I managed to cut off and rewire a new connector by using an old pc power supply and fan to figure out which wires go to which pin, from the broken connector. I now have the Sony 15" I am using now working great. does 1200xsomethingorother too. : |
