Details are on the main page. I would be interested in what comments librarians have about this feature." Try a search for "zaphod" to see how it works. |

Welcome, spend your money, now go home (Oct 23 2003 17:59 GMT) - Just got this sent from a friend of mine (Update: OK apparently my friend is on the same mailing lists I'm on, as this was published in the LangaList, I just hadn't gotten to that in my inbox yet). It was written for the mid-west, but could very well be applicable to Central/Eastern Oregon as well: ------------- IN AN EFFORT TO HELP OUTSIDERS UNDERSTAND THE MIDWEST UNITED STATES, THE FOLLOWING LIST WILL BE HANDED TO EACH DRIVER ENTERING THE AREA: 1. |

More Media (Oct 23 2003 17:58 GMT) - I've been told the article on Outside the Inbox should show up tomorrow in La Presse. Some songs from Outside the Inbox are apparently being played on WMBC thanks to Wes Weber. Outside the Inbox was mentioned (on air?) on 5FM, a South African (i think) radio station. Thanks to everyone who has been linking to it and mentioning it! |

Fearless Leader of Google Engineering, Wayne Rosin... (Oct 23 2003 17:57 GMT) - Fearless Leader of Google Engineering, Wayne Rosing has a really good interview in this month's ACM Queue. I'm one of the (very?) few engineers in Google without at least a bachelor's degree. When we were being acquired, Wayne said that my lack of a degree didn't matter because 1) it was obvious that I could do my job since I had already done it, and 2) he didn't have a degree, either. That made me glad to be joining. |

The Future of iTunes for Windows (Oct 23 2003 17:56 GMT) - The iTunes Music Store for Windows has been out for almost a week now, and according to Apple, the client has been downloaded over a million times since then. To me it seems like Apple is doing well. But then again we hear reports of people who's computers were crashed by it, Microsoft (and it's cronies) bash it, and of course the complaints of people with non-iPod MP3 players, who are unable to play their music. So the question really is, how well is the iTunes Music Store really doing? |
