Don't snort your brain (Oct 24 2003 09:21 GMT) - It's hard to believe that I haven't been to a gig for over a year (especially considering that about ten years ago I was going to two or three a week!), but last night I broke the drought by going to see Flaming Lips at the Pavilions in Plymouth. They've ... |

Everything Matters (Oct 24 2003 09:21 GMT) - WHAT MAKES KEANU CRY? When he rang the doorbell he was holding a black motorcycle half-helmet. He was diffident and shook my hand. Called me sir-perhaps through nervousness, perhaps simply because of my age. I am 10 years older but suddenly felt 60. |

Googling at a £15bn IPO? (Oct 24 2003 09:16 GMT) - An interesting story on the front of today's Financial Times about the prospects of a Google IPO sometime very soon. Google executives spent last week sounding out merchant bankers about an IPO, according to the FT's source, with a view to getting a stock market listing by March next year. That FT link is likely to go behind a toll after today, although you can always follow the story elsewhere via Google news :-)The most interesting part of the FT story is that the IPO could break with the traditional way of selling shares to the public. Google may opt for a public auction, which would likely lead to fewer (if any) big institutional investors getting first go at the shares, and more small investors getting in. |
