I'll take this opportunity to ask for the LtU readership opinion on whether C# is ready to replace Java as the language of choice in courses that currently use Java, and are essentialy OO oriented. |

Peter directed me to this paper of his, in reply to a question following his very interesting post regarding the history of Prolog. If you are interested in how Prolog is implemented (WAM and the like), you should definitely read this paper. But even if the implementation details don't really interest you, the paper is worth a look, since it gives insights on the history of Prolog systems, and some useful clues about the semantics of Prolog. |

Creating *Valid* XHTML Documents (Oct 24 2003 23:27 GMT) - While working on our CMS, we ran into a common problem that no one seems to have solved completely yet, creating valid XHTML documents from IE's non-validated HTML editing component. The common suggestion with .NET is to use the SgmlReader to make a pass over your doc and then just output directly to an XmlWriter using WriteNode. |

mobbed like goodie while my hoodie hides my eyes (Oct 24 2003 23:26 GMT) - i forgot to mention that my free [one] blogger hoodie came on tuesday. unforunatley it's been extremely warm so i haven't got to sport it for more than a couple hours this morning when it was hazy and 65 degrees out. also, the largest it came in was xxl. it's a little tight even though i normally wear my shirts in a xxl [two] so this heat wave will give me some time to drop a couple extra pounds before i represent proper. since i've been a bit more active [see: |
