Foul trade (Oct 25 2003 05:58 GMT) - "What a pleasure to see the World Trade Organization (WTO) talks crumble in Cancun!" "People all around the world are very confused about what is meant by the various trade agreements pimped by the WTO. We can all see that member nations still have tariffs and restrictions on some products or with some countries, but we are assured this is part of the "globalization" movement that is going to bring financial Nirvana to us all. |

More Critters Of Fall (Oct 25 2003 05:55 GMT) - A few more wildlife observations for today. I heard pipits in our field for the first time this season. Most likely these were American pipits, but Pica tells me to keep an eye out for wayward red-throated pipits, definitely rarities... |

Blogger News Item (Oct 25 2003 05:54 GMT) - Please don't take this the wrong way, but am I the only one who has been looking at Shawn's chest for six weeks and finding it slightly askew? Are his nipples just oddly close together, or is one closer to the middle than the other? They look really odd to me, except when he is leaning back with his arms back. Is it just me? |

Blogger News Item (Oct 25 2003 05:54 GMT) - How many times have we seen this before? It happened like three episodes in a row last season: a fairly influential tribe member moves just a little too soon against a more influential tribe member, somebody balks and they find the plank under their own feet. That leading woman (also Trish?) tried it against the triathalete dude last season, then he turned around and tried it and . |

MS under more scrutiny by States (Oct 25 2003 05:54 GMT) - The US States that foolishly came to agreements with Microsoft over glaring Anti Trust violations have found that the monopolistic software maker might not be exactly holding up the bargain that they came to. The Register reports "California's assistant AG, Kathleen Foote said the attorneys general needed more time to gauge compliance. "We would have liked to say by now whether the remedy had achieved the purpose of opening up the market we had hoped for," she told Reuters." CNet also reports "Five computer companies, most recently wireless networking company UTStarcom, have licensed computer code to make their server software compatible with Microsoft's Windows operating system. Microsoft said that was evidence it was complying with the landmark antitrust settlement. |

Nazareth bathhouse from time of Jesus? (Oct 25 2003 05:50 GMT) - Nazareth's ancient bathhouse in troubled water. From the Sydney Morning Herald: Elias Shama's small souvenir shop in Nazareth, the town of Jesus's childhood, barely catches the eye. Tourists usually pass by it on their way to the neighbouring Mary's Well church, claimed by the Greek Orthodox church as the site where the Archangel Gabriel revealed to Mary that she was carrying the son of God. Before the Palestinian intifada erupted three years ago, the shop did a steady tourist trade. |
