Launching Rockets (Oct 25 2003 17:59 GMT) - Launching RocketsJust back from launching model rockets at my son's school field on a perfect fall day. 5 cub scouts, our den leader and about 4 other dads and me. These things are so much fun. We had a big cub scout rocket launch about a month ago, but this was a smaller affair. Jackson has a great rocket called a Skywriter, it looks like a big No. |

Iraq Rebuilding Money Short of $56B Goal (Oct 25 2003 17:57 GMT) - Iraq Rebuilding Money Short of $56B Goal Iraq's postwar reconstruction received a boost Friday as nations from Japan to Saudi Arabia pledged $13 billion in new aid on top of more than $20 billion from the United States. But the figure fell well short of the estimated $56 billion needed to rebuild the country, and much came in the form of loans that could saddle Iraq with new debts. |

Naming of agent 'was aimed at discrediting CIA' (Oct 25 2003 17:56 GMT) - Naming of agent 'was aimed at discrediting CIA' The Bush administration's exposure of a clandestine Central Intelligence Agency operative was part of a campaign aimed at discrediting US intelligence agencies for not supporting White House claims that Saddam Hussein was reconstituting Iraq's nuclear weapons programme, former agency officials said yesterday. In a rare hearing called by Senate Democratic leaders, the officials said the White House engaged in pressure and intimidation aimed at generating intelligence evidence to support the decision to make war on Iraq. |

OT: My first impression of Serial ATA (Oct 25 2003 17:54 GMT) - Well, today I was out at CompUSA and I saw a pretty nice deal on a 120GB Maxtor SATA drive with the 8mb cache... Now I really don't *need* any more storage space on my machine (360GB is enough even for me), but I have recently been having some problems with my Promise ATA RAID card. The card is fine if you just want RAID to mirror or stripe and you are running Windows, but if you want to run Linux (mono anyone?), or (and this was my biggie) if you want to make a nice image using Ghost or Drive Image you are just plain out of luck. |
