g by any other name? (Oct 27 2003 10:06 GMT) - General Symbol Machines: The First Stage in the Evolution of Symbolic Communication over at Human Nature. This is a long and wordy paper (the philosophical preliminaries and review seemed to be interminably gas-baggish) which scales back (or at least qualifies)... |

Two pin-codes for one debit-card? (Oct 27 2003 10:05 GMT) - The Financieel Dagblad reports this morning about an innovation by a former debit-card/pincode victim. Mr Jantoon Roos suggested to the banking sector the use of two pincodes on one debitcard. The pincode a and b would both be 4 digits long and be used in alternation. Mountain Food (Oct 27 2003 10:04 GMT) - On the table outside where we sat and drank our coffee (which could have used some snake in it) was a bowl filled with mountain food. The old guy explained what everything was, but apart from the acorns and chestnuts, I can't remember the names of anything. We didn't eat any of it; I think the arrangement was more decorative than tasty and anyway, I had some snake to keep me warm. |
