Feminismus? |

Linux Plugin: quicktime, real, windows media, ... |

Iraqi Poll Results (Oct 29 2003 10:55 GMT) - From the CPA Website : Key Findings Iraqis in these seven cities divide on whether a democracy, an Islamic state or a mix of the two is best for Iraq’s future. But regardless of their preferences for a political system, large majorities emphasize the importance of free and fair elections, the rule of law, the right to criticize the government and inclusiveness in politics. The main difference between those who support a democracy and those who support an Islamic state is their views on the appropriate role of religion in politics.Historical experience has sullied the image of political parties, especially outside of Northern Iraq where no more than one third express confidence in parties. |

Web Design Standards [Dave Cross] (Oct 29 2003 10:54 GMT) - I've previously mentioned Jeffery Zeldman's excellent book Designing with Web Standards, but I thought it was worth quoting from the blurb on the back of the book as it has a great set of bullet points that should persuade anyone of the benefits of web standards.Slash design, development, and quality assurance costs (or do great work in spite of constrained budgets)Deliver suberb design and sophisticated functionality without worrying about browser incompatibilitiesSet up your site to work as well five years from now as it does todayRedesign in hours instead of days or weeksWelcome new visitors and make your content more visible to search enginesStay on the right side of accessibility laws and guidelinesSupport wireless and PDA users without the hassle and expense of multiple versionsImprove u |

Establish a $1 billion endowment to create permanent world peace (Oct 29 2003 10:54 GMT) - Gothic director wants to build 100 meditation palaces At a press conference in New York's plush Plaza hotel, David Lynch launched a $1 billion fundraising campaign to build 100 'peace palaces' across America, part of a plan for 3,000 buildings across the globe, one in each major city. Inside the palaces up to 300 devotees will spend their time meditating and 'yogic flying', which practitioners say is a form of levitation.
