GKrellM: Geek eye-candy, monitors, and more (Oct 29 2003 17:20 GMT) - Bill Wilson's little "single process stack of system monitors" known as GKrellM has become so popular some refer to it (or just use it) as geek eye-candy rather than as the very nice performance monitoring tool that it is. In fact, GKrellM is so popular it may have more plugins than other projects have users. Actually, I think it's not so much that GKrellM has morphed itself into eye-candy so much as that since the very beginning it's been designed as a Swiss Army knife kind of utility... |

I'm still struggling with the ... (Oct 29 2003 17:19 GMT) - I'm still struggling with the upgrade for this site. Am I going to go with b2evolution or WordPress. I'm very hesitant due to the committment of heading down one of those paths. There's not guarantee that I can keep all my thoughts and convert over to the other. One of the major reasons I went with b2 in the first place was the conversion of greymatter's archives. |

Praise the Lord for Youth Pastors (Oct 29 2003 17:19 GMT) - Pressed's reflection on his work with Jr. High kids and tylenol reminded me much of the heart that my own youth pastor had when I was in youth group. Rick Rhodes and his wife Naomi, now in Graduate school, were a great influence on my life. I came out of a church split hurting from the destructive nature that Satan so often bring upon a church and in need of some solid friendships with people who truly had a heart for God. It was my parent's faith that got me through the time, but it was the youth group friendships from Rick and those whom he had mentored into solid peer leaders of the group that allowed me to grow in the time and not just fester in my pain. |

Quote: Erik Troan (Oct 29 2003 17:19 GMT) - Found in a 'fortune' file Once upon a time there was a DOS user who saw Unix, and saw that it was good. After typing cp on his DOS machine at home, he downloaded GNU's unix tools ported to DOS and installed them. He rm'd, cp'd, and mv'd happily for many days, and upon finding elvis, he vi'd and was happy. After a long day at work (on a Unix box) he came home, started editing a file, and couldn't figure out why he couldn't suspend vi (w/ ctrl-z) to do a compile. (By Erik Troan) |
