WinFS validates Unified Storage Vision (Oct 29 2003 18:34 GMT) - I have been following the PDC event and information outflows with very keen interest. The newly published document from Microsoft re. WinFS is certainly interesting reading, especially as it articulates a vision that validates our Virtuoso universal server (as far as data storage goes). The excerpt below pretty much sums this up: Every year, as new hard disks get bigger and faster, applications catch up by producing more data. |

MS Blogger Should Have Been Fired (Oct 29 2003 18:33 GMT) - I don't see what the big deal is here. The guy blatantly violated MS security policies. Yes, the picture was quite innocent, but here is the deal. You can't just go around snapping photos of stuff arriving on trucks to Microsoft. |

New Ways to Skirt DMCA … Legally! (Oct 29 2003 18:32 GMT) - Busting open a digital lock to get hold of copyright works normally is forbidden, but the Librarian of Congress ruled Tuesday that there are exceptions. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act, or DMCA, prohibits, among other things, bypassing any technology that controls access to copyright material. This provision is criticized frequently by digital-rights groups because they say it stifles many legitimate activities in the process, including academic research, competition and innovation. |

Sleazy Microsoft (Oct 29 2003 18:30 GMT) - This is interesting: Microsoft fired a guy because he took a picture of a truck delivering brand new G5 Mac's and posted it on his weblog. I would never subject myself to this kind of risk, make fun at the company AFTER you get fired or leave, not while you are still working there. Anyway, this shows how sneaky they are, reading their personnel’s weblogs… I hope he finds a job, probably some company will hire him to get some publicity: “hey look we hired the guy that Microsoft fired, and we use Mac's! |

Alex @ 10/29/2003 09:07 AM (Oct 29 2003 18:30 GMT) - Mauricinho, brilhante texto, parabéns.
