Bad ebay Reviews (Oct 30 2003 17:16 GMT) - The first time I've ever left bad reviews on a seller at ebay (or buyer for that matter) was today. This pretty little scanner was supposed to be "AS-IS" so I knew I was taking a risk, but for $25 I figured I could do well enough. Turns out that the power adapter wasn't included. Pretty much a hunk of plastic, but that was OK. I would have left Neutral feedback (which I've also never done). |

echo bug? (Oct 30 2003 17:16 GMT) - I think I might have found me an 'echo' bug. I tried to type 'echo --version' as is listed in the man pages for echo on my Gentoo install, but only get the string "--version" returned and not the version information. This sure is an odd thing, but probably easy to fix. I emailed the coreutils at gnu dot org with my findings. I'm interested to hear what they have to say. |

Time is correct now... Finally (Oct 30 2003 17:16 GMT) - I've been lazy and hadn't messed with the time in the blog. I was actually 8 hours off in each post I made. I've finally messed around and set it. It was actually pretty simple to do, but I had to acquire the timezone of the server and hadn't taken the time to ask. Now that I've got ssh access the date command filled me in and a little tweak sets it all correctly. |

All About the Lempiras (Oct 30 2003 17:16 GMT) - The following paragraph in a story about P. Diddy's Sean John clothing being made in sweatshops caught my eye: Activists said workers receive $33.15 to $50.18 for a 51-hour workweek, or 65 to 98 cents an hour, higher than Honduras's prevailing minimum wage of 55 cents an hour but less than what families need to survive. |
