Helpline Comment (24274) (Oct 31 2003 20:34 GMT) - TJ The problems is I usually need to use the CD's to load windows. And most of the computers that came with those type cards and CDROMs were windows 3.1 and 95. Windows 98 does autodetect them and maybe the last version of windows 95 does too but If the computer already has a windows version that detects them, I dont need to worry about it. I checked on the internet and found references to several port addresses, 630, 340, and 360, but I think the 360 one is just someone screwing up and mistyping the 630 one. |

Microsoft Alms for Needy Linux Efforts (Oct 31 2003 20:31 GMT) - Microsoft gadfly Michael Robertson, the CEO of Lindows.com and the guy who greeted the letter from Microsoft lawyers telling him to take down his MSfreePC Web site with a raised middle finger, now says that 10% of each claim against Microsoft's $1.1 billion settlement with California over the price of Windows that the site processes will go to a needy Linux company that the claimant picks from a Lindows-supplied list. The offer is for "a limited time" only - exactly how long is unclear and includes such possibilities as poor old Mozilla, the more buoyant OpenOffice.org, Gnome, KDE or Debian. |
