Re: macro error (Oct 31 2003 20:28 GMT) - I can't tell what you do wrong... it seems like you typed in the macro wrong or put in a character that doesn't belong. Can you copy and paste what you input into the item template? Can you also post up your URL? Rhye |

Change and the Adaptive, Agile, Resilient, Real-Time Enterprise (Oct 31 2003 20:28 GMT) - There is an interesting study in attitudes towards “change” around the world. The ability to change is at the heart of successful nations, as it is at the heart of successful corporations. Those that see “change as opportunity” will thrive, while those that see it as a roadblock will sink further, or standstill. In North America, companies constantly aim for change, embrace it and turn it into advantage. |

Breathing new life into my Palm (Oct 31 2003 20:28 GMT) - After my initial amazement I started to use my Palm PDA less and less in the recent months. I somehow couldn't get myself to replace my cellphone's organizer with it. Even though the Palm calendar is about one billion times more capable than the sucky one that came with my phone I don't carry my PDA in my pockets at all times (read: I'm too lazy to get used to something new). The new semester s ... |

Disco Dictum! (Oct 31 2003 20:28 GMT) - It's no secret how much I love books. You could say I have a compulsion to read, I suppose. I also love languages of all sorts, even those wholly created from fantastical genius. In fact, the ability I covet above all others is the intimate knowledge of many languages because that skill would allow me to read so many, many more books. As I once told Kelley when we were in our cups and musing about what we would do with our lives if we had no other cares or obligations in the world, my "dream job" would involve learning countless languages and spending days on end translating ancient manuscripts in a crowded, book-filled University office, then teaching others about what I've read. |

Catholic School Girls' Revenge (Oct 31 2003 20:28 GMT) - This is too funny: A man described by authorities as a known sexual predator was chased through the streets of South Philadelphia by an angry crowd of Catholic high school girls, who kicked and punched him after he was tackled by neighbors, police said Friday. Or, as Brandt said: ...the girls at the school were sick of his act so when he tried again yesterday twenty of them chased him down and with the help of two neighbors kicked the... |

Plenty of IM Security Holes Left to Plug (Oct 31 2003 20:28 GMT) - Instant Messaging can speed critical communications across the corporate network, saving time and giving an edge to team projects. The trouble is that IM also can speed viruses into the network, and shoot corporate secrets out to competitors without leaving any trail behind it. |

Some people don't like Amazon's ... (Oct 31 2003 20:27 GMT) - Some people don't like Amazon's 'Search Inside'The Seattle Times has a report that trade book authors (many of whom do pretty well out of Amazon) don't like the new Search Inside facility because it might enable users to get the key piece of information they are seeking without having to buy the book. "The feature is particularly troubling to reference-book authors who think they may lose a sale if a user can find "the best place to hike in Chaco Canyon" or "where to find the best airfare to Cuba" by using Amazon's search feature instead. The new feature may have other problems: Each search allows the user to see the full-text of the page where the keyword appears, plus two pages forward and two backward. But savvy searchers can actually read more of the book. |
