Mole, Mole, Mole! (Nov 05 2003 23:59 GMT) - Monday's roast chicken fulfills its destiny - as chicken mole. We had a little of the chicken that night, but we prepared it with this meal in mind. It was definitely worth the wait, but it was more work than expected. Happily, we had some helpers in the kitchen. |

Saddam still 'stirs trouble', Bush admits (Nov 05 2003 23:57 GMT) - According to resident Bush he:believes the former Iraqi dictator is active in the guerrilla campaign being waged against American troops in the country. As noted in this article (posted previously)A senior Iraqi official said yesterday there was no truth in claims by the Pentagon that Saddam Hussein and Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, one of his aides, were orchestrating anti-US resistance in Iraq.Somebody doesn't know what they're talking about do they? Who do you suppose that is? |

Damn right we want an inquiry (Nov 05 2003 23:57 GMT) - Our Prime Minister doesn't seem to think that we need a public inquiry into why a Canadian citizen was arrested in New York by U.S. officials, accused of terrorist ties, refused access to a lawyer, and deported to Syria where he was confined in a 3' x 6' x 7' cell and tortured until he was willing to admit to anything in the hopes of stopping the pain. Just what sort of shady environment are we now living in anyway? Given the circumstances I think a public inquiry is a damned fine idea. |

Huh? (Nov 05 2003 23:57 GMT) - According to the Federal Government aboriginal people who were sexually abused in Ontario, British Columbia, and the Yukon deserve more compensation for residential school abuse than aboriginal people from other Provinces or Territories.A draft of the government plan says native people who attended schools in Ontario, British Columbia, and the Yukon deserve to be paid more for their suffering than those in other provinces. How anyone in their right mind could conceive the idea (let alone... |

Remember this story from last month? (Nov 05 2003 23:57 GMT) - New Jersey Fires 'Incompetent' Social Workers for Letting Boys Starve( NewsMax ) - The state's troubled child welfare agency blames the latest horror - four badly malnourished boys found in their adoptive home - on its own incompetent, uncaring or dishonest employees. A family member maintains the children were not abused but suffered from medical conditions, including eating disorders, that dated back to their births. Not many people believe in medical conditions or eating disorders... |

More surveys (Nov 05 2003 23:57 GMT) - [ Via Blog Left ] It seems that in addition to Europeans ranking Iran, North Korea, and the United States as a equal threats to world peace a huge majority of Americans don't believe their presidents claims that the war in Iraq is central to the war on terrorism. The Whitehouse doesn't need people thinking for themselves on this issue, if they can't keep up the facade Bush is really going to be hurting come this time next year. Even members of the Republican party are getting more... |

M$ Reward program (Nov 05 2003 23:57 GMT) - No, it's not a new frequent Internet flyer program, it's a reward for catching those nasty virus writers.( FortWayne.com ) - Microsoft Corp. announced Wednesday it is creating a $5 million reward program to help law enforcement identify and convict those who illegally release worms, viruses and other types of malicious programs on the Internet. Now that's enough coin to make a few of these folks roll on their buddies I imagine but two questions come immediately to mind: |

What Europeans think (Nov 05 2003 23:57 GMT) - I while back (on a r/w blog I visit) I made a statement to the effect that Bush posed the greatest current threat to world peace and stability.... needless to say my opinion was in the minority. We now find that, according to a European Union commissioned poll, Europeans ranked Israel as the number one threat to world peace with Iran, North Korea, and the United States all tied for second place. Expect to see Bush and his apologists thump their chests at these results, expect more... |

More differences between 'the ground' and the Pentagon (Nov 05 2003 23:57 GMT) - Saddam 'not organising' Iraqi anti-US resistanceA senior Iraqi official said yesterday there was no truth in claims by the Pentagon that Saddam Hussein and Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, one of his aides, were orchestrating anti-US resistance in Iraq.Just another example of differences between what the U.S. administration would have us believe and reality. |

Guy Fawkes Day game (Nov 05 2003 23:57 GMT) - A spiffy game from the BBC where you must stop the devious Guy Fawkes from blowing up Parliament by answering questions about the "Gunpowder Plot". It's not too hard for American LiFi-ers and it's quite educational. And once again- Happy Guy Fawkes day, everyone! |
