Syge betaler for Det kongelige (Nov 05 2003 12:11 GMT) - Arbejdsgiverne raser over finanslovsforliget om Det Kongelige Teater. |

Diehard Diode May Solve Computer Gridlock (Nov 05 2003 12:11 GMT) - Untangling computer chips that are "worse than the Los Angeles freeway, with wires running back and forth clogging the path of propagating signals," is the goal of Ohio State University electrical engineering and physics professor Paul Berger. "At some point, things are going to come to a grinding halt, and chips won't run any faster," he says. |

Email Marketing Firms Hit Mainstream (Nov 05 2003 12:11 GMT) - The British Labour Party hired Email Reaction to be agency of record over its many electronic communications efforts. The review and rewards signify an interesting development in that the process involved a formal evaluation process not unlike a typical agency review. Email marketing has become a mature enough practice, with a specialization out of reach to most general marketing firms, that a coterie of companies regularly compete against one another for major accounts. Increasingly, large firms would sooner hand over their direct mail campaigns to their television agency than they would allow them to tinker with the email efforts. NetImperative reports. |

The difference between socialism and sharing (Nov 05 2003 12:06 GMT) - Nationally syndicated libertarian columnist and author Vin Suprynowicz is sure to rile up the teachers' unions with his latest column, which rips compulsory government schooling. I'm sure others will disagree, but I think his point of view is refreshing. IMHO the public school system is a failed monopoly which needs to be broken up and exposed to competition as quickly as possible. Read the column |

He said there was a need for more trained military police, adding that his comments were not a criticism. "Honestly, it's a little tougher than I thought it was going to be," Lott said. |

Why this non-war will drag on longer than expected (Nov 05 2003 12:06 GMT) - In the epicenter of anti-American hatred, even the most generous of gestures is viewed with a suspicious eye. The day after 16 American servicemen died when their helicopter was shot out of the sky here, a group of American soldiers tossed handfuls of candy from their Humvees to the Iraqi children who lined the road. "Don't touch it, don't touch it!" the Iraqi children squealed. "It's poison from the Americans. |

Big trouble in little Sri Lanka (Nov 05 2003 12:06 GMT) - Sri Lanka's President Chandrika Kumaratunga has deployed troops to key buildings in Colombo, hours after she removed three powerful ministers from their posts in cabinet. Kumaratunga -- who is commander of the armed forces and has wide executive authority -- made the moves while her political rival, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, is in Washington where he is scheduled to hold talks with U.S. President George W. |
