A life where TiVo has always existed (Nov 13 2003 05:59 GMT) - A life where TiVo has always existed (via anil) A three-year-old's experience growing up with TiVo. She gets quite confused when we are watching a non-TiVo TV, and she asks to watch "a kids show", and we have to explain that this TV won't do what ours at home does. Canadian Libraries need more help (Nov 13 2003 05:59 GMT) - Libraries need more help is an editorial from The Montreal Gazette that says Quebec is failing its young people by not giving them access to the material they need to become literate. "It's like a bad joke. The education minister, Pierre Reid, has decided that the way around the problem of Quebec schools' appalling lack of library resources is to set them up in partnership with the province's equally-poorly-endowed municipal libraries. What's worse is that Reid doesn't seem to be kidding. He doesn't seem to realize how important school libraries are to students' academic success. |
