Generations on the shelves (Nov 13 2003 07:59 GMT) - Bob Cox spotted Generations on the shelves, a Seattle Times Article, on Marysville bookstore owner Darilee Bednar who has collected nearly 5,700 high-school, college and military yearbooks in her used-book store, the 3rd St. Book Exchange, 1615 Third St. She has yearbooks dating to the mid-1800s, some from the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Canada, Panama and other countries. Bednar's collection has been used by genealogists, by adoptees looking for birth parents and by the state Department of Licensing, which has sometimes sent people over for picture identification. |

New version of Scripting.com live (Nov 13 2003 07:57 GMT) - Lots of feedback on Dave Winer's new Scripting.com site........ Winer prunes blog and plants a tree. Dave Winer's transformation of Scripting News from a weblog to a directory makes more sense if you look at his categories page and an example category such as the one devoted to Howard Dean. Apparently, the new slogan of Scripting News is "plant a tree. |

Fort Bragg Soldier Says She's 'Cheated Death' (Nov 13 2003 07:56 GMT) - A Fort Bragg soldier is thankful to be back at home with her husband and two children after a close call inside Iraq. The Army specialist tells Eyewitness News she's thankful she wasn't on the Chinook helicopter that was shot down. The chopper was attacked outside Fallujah a week and a half ago. |

Cocaine Ruling Shocks Law Officers, Prosecutors (Nov 13 2003 07:56 GMT) - What some are calling a shocking ruling may affect thousands of drug cases across North Carolina. The State Court of Appeals ruled that simple possession of cocaine is a misdemeanor. So now, in the eyes of some authorities, people caught with as much as $3,000 worth of cocaine may get off with a relatively benign punishment. |

Posting an email address in a public place is not an invitation for companies to send unsolicited advertisements. Hosting a public Web forum or Usenet server does not give companies permission or the moral right to advertise on it. |
