Written in the wake of the June 2003 U. S. Supreme Court decision upholding the constitutionality of the Children's Internet Protection Act, Sobel surveys the field, speaks of difficulties and challenges that may occur as libraries attempt to implement CIPA. There is little new material here, but it is worth reading as an overview or by those not intimately familiar with the subject. |

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire (Nov 13 2003 13:56 GMT) - I've come to realize that it's no wonder that Christmas hasn't felt like Christmas over the last two years. Because it's started earlier and earlier over the years. Christmas decorations out in August? What the hell is this all about? We have two radio stations already dedicated to playing Christmas songs 24-7. |

'There is nothing in the world quite like liberal Anglican condescension.' (Nov 13 2003 13:55 GMT) - And nobody beat's Midwest Conservative Journal's consistently fine observations on the Great Implosion:"When the dust settles, conservative Anglican churches in America and Canada will be located in homes, in apartments, in school gyms, in movie theaters, in park pavilions or under trees. The liberals are going to end up with the funny clothes and the silver services and the big buildings and the real estate and the foundation money." |
