Where Did You Use Wi-Fi in the Last Year? (Nov 22 2003 19:58 GMT) - The travel segment could be a lucrative money-making area for the Wi-Fi industry at minimal cost to users and the companies who pay their bills. 20 percent of online users spend up to 25 percent of their time working away from their homes or primary offices, offering WISPs a small, but potentially lucrative opportunity. "With 11 percent of travelers paying $150 to $200 monthly in telecom bills, and 8 percent paying $200 or more, a $30 per month fee adds only 20 percent or less to many of these bills" While 13 percent of respondents said they would be willing to pay for wireless access through a public hotspot, only four percent of consumers reported they were willing to pay a WISP directly, indicating that hotspots will not survive as stand-along businesses except on the small-scale. H.R.O. (Nov 22 2003 19:58 GMT) - It's no joke. There are a lot of good games out. I've told myself I won't buy any more games until after Christmas. Except for Ultramix, I bought that yesterday. It's pretty much the same old DDR except that you can play 4 players and play online. |

Do tell. Er, or don't tell, as the case may be. UPDATE: |

Happy Christmas to me (Nov 22 2003 19:54 GMT) - So I bought myself an early Christmas present -- a new design from those crazy Blogmoxie girls. This new Shag-inspired extravaganza is the handiwork of Joelle. I guess eventually I'll have to hire Julie for a design so I can complete the set. I'd hire Wayne for a design, too, but I think he'd probably just shit all over Kathy's keyboard, and no one wants that. So whatcha think? |

Voting Tech (Nov 22 2003 19:54 GMT) - Interesting: California requires electronic voting machines to make receipts. However, on balance I am becoming increasingly convinced that touch screens really aren't that good an idea, and that scantron-type ballots are the best way to go: there is a paper... |

A day on this day (Nov 22 2003 19:54 GMT) - The Discovery Channel’s a Day to Remember has several people’s accounts of their day on the day Kennedy was assassinated. This is much better, though. The world’s slowest draft dodger, Prof. Crawford Kilian, recounts his own day on that day in The Tyee. “As Good a Shot as Oswald” provides an interesting account that offers some insight into where their minds were, and where our hearts were, on that day and for a long time thereafter. |
