Past it or in your prime? [Paul Nedoszytko] (Nov 30 2003 23:42 GMT) - Does anyone have any experience of finding a new career in their mid to late forties? After five years of running my own business I am calling it a day (somewhat reluctantly) and am actively looking for a new direction. I have put together a CV for the first time in twenty years, which was a daunting task. (Any advice or comments gratefully received, you can click the link on my profile page) After reading it I was quite pleased and astounding as to my skills and abilities, however, my teenage daughter soon took the wind out of my sails by saying I was over the hill and should consider a less demanding role! Should I remain optimistic or look for my pipe and slippers and a job collecting trolleys from the car parks at Tescos : |

the last samurai (Nov 30 2003 23:41 GMT) - The lobby display for this movie is extremly cheezy. Its tom cruise coming at you head on like theres an army behind you. Its really ugly, and if you see it you might think the movie is cheezy too. But its not. |

ipodsdirtysecret.com's dirty secret (Nov 30 2003 23:39 GMT) - The second item from BoingBoing is this. You may have read about a couple of guys who were pissed off at Apple because the battery in the iPod runs down eventually. (It's a fault common to all rechargeable batteries.). They started spray painting slogans on iPod poster adverts and they made a video. |

Herald Square Xmas tree topped with open WiFi antenna (Nov 30 2003 23:36 GMT) - The first of two items from BoingBoing Blog: Yahoo! has sposored the ornament atop the Xmas tree in NYC's Herald Square this year: a WiFi antenna broadcasting an open connection to the Manhattan passers-by who want to get in the holiday spirit with a little open spectrum. What a brilliant idea. |

Hockey Talk (Nov 30 2003 23:32 GMT) - Yesterday, Sheila, Megan and I attended a hockey game - But to the dismay of the 2 other people in the booth with us - we didn't really watch the game. I hadn't seen the 2 of them in quite some time so we spent the duration catching up. I do know the final score was 3 - 1 - kings won and at one point one of the hockey players got caught in the net - but that's about it. We ate - we drank - we watched guys go by - we talked - and probably too... |

Dream Quest (Nov 30 2003 23:30 GMT) - For hist first novel, Bill chose the traditional fantasy line of a quest. You probably could have figured that out for yourself, as the title of the book is DreamQuest. One of the most amazing things about this book: Bill has been writing it for over sixteen years! |

Crawlers (Nov 30 2003 23:30 GMT) - John joins us to speak about his new book, Crawlers. Call it a fusion of sci-fi and horror, as most of John's work crosses generas and often defines a few. He's dealing with the teen agers in a small town who have discovered their adults are being taken over by... something. I don't want to say much more for fear of giving away the plot. |
