And Then, Turkey Soup (Dec 01 2003 23:59 GMT) - Thankfully, we still have Thanksgiving leftovers tonight. We made a turkey stock Saturday and Robin enjoyed a little soup with Sunday's lunch. We hadn't planned on including it in the cookbook, but it was so good, we make it again tonight! |

Trolling: vandalism or unique social movement? (Dec 01 2003 23:58 GMT) - Abstract Internet trolling has been around since the earliest days of Usenet, although the art of Polemic discourse from which it arose can of course be traced back to the ancient Greeks. General social consensus at the time of this writing is that in a medium free from simple repressive censorship such as the Internet, trolling is an unwelcome yet unavoidable aspect of modern communications. The application of collective behavioral research techniques, however, show a possibly emerging social movement, complete with the substantial controversy that ironically mirrors that surrounding Ptolemy's own work. |

BlogShares over (Dec 01 2003 23:56 GMT) - I went to BlogShares a moment ago, and found an unkind, but not unexpected message. The beginning, I guess, says it all. Read the more for the complete text(for posterity sake) and remember that for a time this game was the funnest thing for a lot of people. I met some great friends through it, and will fondly remember what Seyed did, this experiment he tried on the whole of the Internet, and hope that one day I shall find another free game that will introduce me to so many excellent people, those who I would trust the advice of beyond most others, and who I would trust me deepest worries and thoughts to. If I am forced to list the things I have lost or gained from this game, memories and friends are those which I have gained, and time is all I lost, and it was time well spent. |

Free Janklow! (Dec 01 2003 23:54 GMT) - It seems to me that all good Democrats should be hoping the jury acquits manslaughtering Rep. Bill Janklow (R-SD), thus maximizing the odds that we'll get to run against a weak incumbent in an otherwise-unwinnable House race. Of course there... |
