AUS: Research efforts stepped up against grapevine leaf rust (Dec 04 2003 00:58 GMT) - More than 400 varieties of grapevine have been sent to Darwin as part of efforts to find a resistant variety to the devastating grapevine leaf rust. The rust was found in Darwin more than two years ago, and efforts are well underway to eradicate it and prevent its spread to southern wine production areas. |

Sandy Lane Standing Stone (Fieldnotes by fitzcoraldo) (Dec 04 2003 00:56 GMT) - I've walked past this stone loads of times and always assumed it was a redundant gatepost, because of this I've never really looked at it. Then I read Tees Archaeology's survey of the Upleatham Hills and found it listed as a standing stone...by gum! they're right - of course. The stone stands on the hollow way known as Sandy Lane. |
